Project Objectives

The main objective of BRAC's Social Empowerment and Legal Protection (SELP) program is to reduce gender-based violence and empower women and girls to know and claim their legal rights within both formal and informal justice systems. This involves grassroots initiatives for women's empowerment, preventing child marriage, challenging discriminatory laws, and providing legal aid services to survivors of violence

Expected Outcomes

The expected outcomes of BRAC's Social Empowerment and Legal Protection (SELP) program include a reduction in gender-based violence and child marriage, increased assertiveness and leadership among women, survivors' ability to claim their legal rights, improved access to justice for violence survivors, and community-level shifts in norms to eliminate discrimination. The program utilizes strategies such as legal aid, alternative dispute resolution, awareness campaigns, and livelihood support to achieve these transformative societal changes.
